True Life :: I Hired an Event Planner for My Baby’s First Birthday

She's one, she's not going to remember her party. First birthdays are always for the adults.

After the initial shock of finding out I was pregnant, I started to think of all the fun things I was going to do with my daughter throughout the years to come. The very first major event I wanted to have was her first birthday; I even set money aside for it. I thought about all the things I wanted to do, the people I wanted to invite, and even how her pictures would look.

Making it Easy for Me

The month finally came, and with everything that went on throughout the year, I didn't get the chance to sit down and plan out the biggest and first major event of her life. Next to her birth, of course. So, I sat down with my friend and her grandmother, and we talked about all the actions that would take place for the party. But during the planning period, I became overwhelmed. Between the stress at home, work, and trying to do all these things while wondering why time wasn't on my side, I knew I needed help. That's when I decided to talk to an event planner.

Yes, I Hired an Event Planner to Plan My Daughter's First Birthday Party

Talking to the event planner, I challenged her with a $1500 budget. I thought it was a reasonable goal to reach, but when I told others, they thought I was out of my mind. I could feel the judgment coming from them because I made this decision. But to me, it was super convenient, and I didn't have to worry about anything other than making the final decisions when it came to the party. The planner helped me make my budget work, and I wanted her party to be as kid-friendly as possible, which meant the older kids might be a bit bored.

I didn't need a venue since we had it at home. I provided the food, and some friends and family offered to help as well.

On the day of the party, I was very nervous but excited to see what the event planner had prepared. They had ordered a super cute cake and fun treats, set up a beautiful balloon display, and even arranged for a mobile soft play gym from Little Gym and Jam. My daughter had a blast, her little playmates had plenty to do, and the parents had a chance to relax and enjoy the party.

I Have No Regrets

Would I hire an event planner again if I were to have another child? Absolutely! I believe big milestones should be celebrated, and while I won't go all out every year, I would like to make the most of the ages that are the most celebrated.
