These Rustic Twine Candy Cane Ornaments are a delightful addition to your Christmas tree decorations. Not only are they easy to make, but they also last for years, regardless of the weather! Let me share with you this simple technique that will transform ordinary candy canes into beautiful and durable ornaments.

Materials needed for Rustic Twine Candy Cane Ornaments

To create these charming decorations, you'll need a few basic materials:

  • Plastic candy canes (any color will do)
  • Twine (narrow twine works best, but feel free to experiment)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Ribbons and additional decorations like berries, springs, or tiny pinecones

Please note that if you live in a humid climate, I recommend using plastic candy canes instead of real ones to prevent any melting issues with the hot glue.

How to make simple Twine Candy Cane Ornaments

Let's get started on this fun and creative project:

  1. Start by heating your glue gun.

  2. Place about an inch of twine at the base of the candy cane. An inch of twine

  3. Apply hot glue around the bottom of the candy cane and begin wrapping it with twine, working quickly and carefully to avoid burning your fingers. You might need to make a few wraps that loop over the twine to secure it in place. Wrap the candy cane

  4. Continue wrapping up the candy cane, ensuring that the wraps are snug and close together. If desired, you can add a dab of glue every few inches to hold everything in place. Continue wrapping

  5. When you are a few wraps away from the end, cut the twine, leaving an extra inch or so. Finish wrapping the candy cane without hot glue, then add hot glue at the end and rewrap. Finally, add a dab of glue to the very end of the candy cane, curling the extra twine to conceal it. Wrap the end

  6. Your twine candy cane ornaments are now complete! Optionally, you can enhance their charm by adding ribbons, greenery, berries, or pinecones. Simply glue each decoration in place and tie everything together with a piece of ribbon. Rustic twine wrapped candy cane ornaments
