What is Reserve with Google?

Customers searching for your venue on Google or Google Maps will come across the option to "Reserve a table." This feature allows them to check your availability and make a reservation directly through your website.

Is Reserve with Google available worldwide?

Unfortunately, RWG is not supported in certain countries, including China, Jersey, North Korea, Macao, Guernsey, Maldives, Cyprus, Cambodia, Nambia, Saudi, Fiji, Myanmar, Egypt, Lao, Lebanon, Georgia, Bermuda, and Cabo Verde.

Are there any costs associated with Reserve with Google integration?

Good news! ResDiary, our integrated partner with Google, will not charge any fees for using RWG. The integration is completely commission-free.

Can I use other booking systems alongside Reserve with Google?

While other booking systems may offer availability for your venue on RWG, ResDiary will not charge you any commission on bookings made. However, if you wish to avoid unnecessary charges, you can request that the other booking system disable their integration with RWG.

Do I need to register to be eligible for Reserve with Google?

No registration is required. If your ResDiary account details match a Google Maps location, you are already eligible to use RWG.

What if my venue doesn't have a Google Maps location?

If your venue doesn't have a location on Google Maps, we recommend creating a Google My Business listing. It's the easiest way to ensure you have a presence on Google Maps.

My restaurant is part of a hotel. Can I still use Reserve with Google?

As Google allows only one maps location for each venue, you will need to register a separate Google My Business account for both the hotel and the restaurant. This way, you can have individual RWG integrations for each entity.

What are the requirements for availability to show on Reserve with Google?

Venues with activated online bookings must be able to accept standard availability reservations. Non-standard availability reservations, such as those requiring customers to select a promotion or provide payment details, will not be displayed on RWG.

How can I customize the information shown on my venue's listing?

To edit the information displayed in the "Overview" tab on your venue's listing, you can make changes through your Google My Business dashboard. Access to this page is required for customization. If you don't have access, follow the guide provided by Google.

Can I offer availability on RWG if promotions or card details are required?

Yes, it is possible to offer availability on RWG even if promotions need to be selected. By excluding the RWG channel from any promotions, you can allow standard availability to be offered on Google without requiring customers to select a promotion. However, RWG does not support the collection of card details, so availability that requires card details or payment will not be displayed.

How far in advance can customers book on Reserve with Google?

Google allows customers to book up to 30 days in advance. However, this can be configured based on your diary settings if you prefer a shorter booking window.

Will my minimum/maximum party size rules still apply?

All the diary settings related to availability will be reflected on RWG. However, please note that Google limits the maximum party size to 10 guests.

Who can complete bookings on RWG?

Anyone can view the availability of your venue on RWG. However, only those with a verified Google account can complete a reservation.

Will customers be able to view my terms & conditions?

Absolutely! The content you have configured in your T&C's will be displayed during the booking process on RWG, below the booking summary.

What customer fields and custom fields will be shown?

Google will display the following customer fields: 'First Name', 'Surname', 'Telephone Number', 'Email', and 'Special Requests'. Unfortunately, they do not support displaying preferences for 'Title' or any custom fields.

Can customers input 'Special Requests'?

Yes, there is an option for customers to include their special requests during the booking process on RWG.

Can customers choose the 'Area' they want to book?

Unfortunately, Google does not offer the option for customers to choose the specific area they want to book.

Will customers be informed of the 'Leave Time' associated with their booking?

Currently, Google does not provide information about the 'Leave Time' associated with a booking.

Does Google send its own email notifications?

Yes, Google generates its own email notifications to confirm reservations, cancellations, modifications, and post-dining feedback. These emails cannot be customized or edited.

Can I stop Google from sending email notifications?

At present, it is not possible to disable email notifications sent by Google.

Does Google capture the opt-in preferences of my guests?

No, Google does not support the selection of opt-in preferences. The integration assumes an 'opt-out' approach, as no explicit permission selection is available.

Will customers receive my email/SMS notifications?

Yes, all email confirmations and SMS notifications that you have configured will still be delivered to customers as per your settings.

Can customers edit or cancel their booking via Google?

Yes, Google allows customers to edit or cancel their reservations within the defined rules and timeframe.

Can I opt-out or opt-in for accepting bookings on RWG?

By default, all ResDiary customers are opted-out of RWG. However, if you wish to opt-in or opt-out at any time, send a written request to [email protected], and we will process your request within 1-3 working days.

What happens to our customer data on RWG?
