All of the Pals in Palworld can breed with each other, creating thousands of possible combinations and unique offspring. While breeding in Palworld is not overly complicated, it does require careful consideration to obtain desired results. In this article, we will explore the intricacies of Palworld breeding, including how it works, how to unlock the breeding farm, and breeding combos that result in subspecies.

Understanding Palworld Breeding

To initiate breeding in Palworld, you will need a breeding farm, some cake, and two Pals. Simply place one female and one male Pal in the farm, along with at least one cake in the attached chest. Each cake in the chest will result in one egg. It's worth noting that cakes placed in the farm chest do not spoil, allowing you to stockpile them for future use.

During the breeding process, Pals have the chance to pass down their passive skills to their offspring. This means that if your Pal possesses a specific skill, there is a possibility that their child will inherit it as well. While it's not guaranteed, breeding powerful Pals with desirable skills increases your chances of obtaining exceptional offspring.

Take a look at the example below, where our Menasting child inherited traits from its parents, Elizabee and Helzephyr, while also exhibiting its unique trait, "conceited."

The Pal that hatches from the egg follows an in-game formula that considers a hidden power level assigned to each Pal. This formula ensures that breeding two early-game Pals won't result in an end-game Pal. For more details on this formula, you can refer to the Palworld Wiki.

Once the breeding process is complete, the Pals will produce an egg that can be placed in an egg incubator for hatching.

Unlocking the Breeding Farm in Palworld

To unlock the breeding farm in Palworld, you need to reach level 19. Once achieved, you can access the breeding farm in your technology tree. Constructing a breeding farm requires 100 wood, 20 stone, and 50 fiber. Be aware that the breeding farm is quite large, so finding a suitable location may prove challenging if your base is not situated on flat ground.

Making Cake in Palworld

To make cake in Palworld, you will first need to create flour. Build a mill, which unlocks at level 15, using 50 wood and 50 stone. Insert any wheat you have farmed using your wheat plantation, another level 15 unlock that aids in base upgrades, to produce flour.

At level 17, you will unlock a cooking pot, which can be constructed using 20 wood, 15 ingots, and 3 flame organs. This cooking pot is essential for making cake, as it cannot be prepared over the beginner campfire.

To make a cake, combine five flour, eight red berries, seven milk, eight eggs, and two honey in your cooking pot.

Honey can be obtained by catching or killing Cinnamoths, but we recommend capturing a Beegarde or two and placing them in a ranch at your base. Beegardes constantly produce honey, ensuring a steady supply. You can find Beegardes north of the Lake Center fast travel point. Please refer to the map below for their exact location.

Please exercise caution when venturing further north towards the second boss tower, as the higher-level Beegardes in that snowy area pose a greater challenge.

Palworld Breeding Combos

Given the vast number of breeding combinations in Palworld, listing them all here would overwhelm the page. Instead, we recommend using the breeding calculator created by blahable on Reddit. This invaluable resource provides all the information you need to calculate specific Pal combinations or determine the outcome of breeding two Pals.

However, if you're specifically seeking breeding combinations for Pal subspecies, we have you covered. Check out the list provided below:
