Unveiling Stories with QR Codes

From windows and fences to doors and walls, you'll find our distinctive QR codes placed strategically all around Wales. Each code unveils a concise history of the object right in front of you. It's like having your own personal tour guide, offering fascinating insights into the rich heritage of Wales. And don't worry, if you're using a desktop or laptop, you can also explore our website and browse the featured locations, known as HiPoints, on an interactive map.

Discover the HiPoints

Navigating the HiPoints is easy. Choose a category from the black bar above, then select a county, town, or district from the menu on the left. You'll be presented with a list of HiPoints in that area. Alternatively, you can use the search box in the top right corner for a specific location.

Virtual Tours and Walking Explorations

Immerse yourself in the historical wonders of Wales by following one of our virtual tours. Whether you're walking along the Wales Coast Path, exploring Offa's Dyke Path, or traversing the National Cycle Network routes, our tours provide an engaging way to delve deeper into the history that surrounds you. Look out for the icons at the bottom of the HiPoint pages to discover the next exciting destination on our tours. We've also curated local walking tours in many towns.

Embrace the Power of Mobiles

Curious about QR codes? It's simple to get started. If you don't already have a QR code scanner, search the internet or your app store for a "QR scanner" and download one onto your device. With the scanner installed, point your device's camera at a QR code, and the text encrypted within will be revealed instantly. Our plaques and window stickers feature two QR codes. The upper code provides a summary text that opens directly on your phone, even without an internet connection. The other QR code opens a web page on HistoryPoints.org, offering additional information.

Please note that in some areas, especially in rural locations, the web page might take a moment longer to load due to slower internet connections. If your phone is unable to connect to the internet at the HiPoint, you can save the web page address and view it later. While HistoryPoints.org provides information free of charge, ensure that your mobile contract covers any data download charges or limits.

Why wait? Grab your smartphone, scan the QR codes, and immerse yourself in the captivating history that surrounds you. Let the stories of Wales unfold before your eyes and ears!
