Are you looking for a fun and creative way to keep your kids entertained this holiday season? Look no further! In this article, we will show you how to make a delightful felt Christmas tree that your little ones will love. Plus, we've even included free printable ornament patterns to make it even easier for you to create a truly enchanting experience for your children.

Crafting a Felt Christmas Tree

Gather Your Supplies

To get started, you will need the following materials:

  • 1.5 yards of green felt (available at your local fabric store)
  • Different colors of felt (to create ornaments and presents)
  • Scissors
  • Patterns (provided at the end of this article)
  • Card stock
  • Sharpie
  • Chalk
  • Hot glue gun + glue

Print and Cut the Free Ornament Patterns

Begin by printing the ornament patterns provided at the end of this article onto card stock. Carefully cut out each ornament.

Trace and Cut Out Ornaments and Presents

Next, trace the ornament patterns onto pieces of felt and cut them out. For the best results, trace the patterns onto the shinier side of the felt, leaving the fuzzier side facing out. This will ensure that the ornaments stick to the tree more securely.

Create Your Christmas Tree

To make the tree itself, fold the green felt in half with the shinier side on the outside. Using a piece of yellow chalk, freehand half of the tree shape. Once you are satisfied with the shape, carefully cut it out, making sure it is symmetrical. If the tree is too tall for your little ones, feel free to trim off the bottom section.

Stick Your Felt Christmas Tree to the Wall

Mount the felt Christmas tree on the wall using Command Brand strips, which act like pieces of Velcro. This will allow your child to easily place and remove ornaments and presents anywhere on the tree.

Get Creative with Ornaments and Presents

Now comes the fun part! Let your imagination run wild as you decorate each ornament and present. You can create different designs using felt cutouts and even add bows to jazz them up. Feel free to use the provided templates as a guide or get creative and come up with your own unique designs.

Storage Tip

To keep things organized, place a bucket next to the tree for ornament and present storage. This way, your child can easily put them away when they're done playing.
