I was ecstatic when my daughter announced that she wanted her 5th birthday to be Bluey-themed. Bluey is, without a doubt, the cutest show, and I was thrilled to create something special for our family's favorite cartoon characters. In this post, I'll share a plethora of Bluey birthday party ideas to help you host your own celebration, complete with free printables, decorations, invitations, party favors, crafts, food, shirts, and more. So, let's get this party started!

To truly appreciate Bluey, you have to watch the show. It's impossible not to fall in love with its wholesome characters and family-centered stories. The 7-minute cartoons are the perfect dose of happiness. If you're not familiar with Bluey yet, I urge you to stop whatever you're doing and watch an episode. In the U.S., you can find Bluey on Disney Channel and Disney Plus. For everyone else, sit back and join us in celebrating the amazing Heeler family.

Bluey Birthday Party Invitation

Let's start with the invitations. I designed my own 5x7 Bluey birthday party invitation. Originally, I planned to hand out physical copies, but due to the circumstances, I also created a digital version. Whether you choose to print or send them digitally, both options are super cute.

Unfortunately, the Bluey birthday party invitations are no longer available in my Etsy Shop.

Bluey Birthday Party Decorations

For the decorations, I opted for a color scheme of orange and blue, inspired by Bluey. I used crepe paper streamers to create a simple backdrop for my tablescape. Although my party had a smaller guest list, I added some height variety with little wood risers from Target's Playground. They have an amazing selection of serving platters and risers that are perfect for any occasion.

DIY Bluey Plates

Rather than using cartoon-themed plates, I decided to stick with the color scheme. To make the plates even more fun, I added ears to the dinner plates and homemade stickers to the cups (similar to the Baby Yoda plates I made previously).

I used my trusty Cricut to cut out the ears for the plates, but you can easily make them by hand as well. You'll need dark blue dinner plates, light blue dessert plates, dark blue cardstock paper, tan cardstock paper, double-sided craft tape, and the Bluey ears template. You can download the template here.

Cut out the outer and inner parts of the ears, then use double-sided craft tape to attach them to the underside of the larger dinner plate. Finally, place a dessert plate on top for a finished look. If you plan to serve finger foods for the kids, consider using clear or orange utensils for a cohesive look.

DIY Bluey Cups

To make the cups extra special, I created Bluey and Bingo stickers. Using my Cricut, I printed the stickers on sticker paper. If you don't have a Cricut, don't worry! You can replicate this by cutting out the shapes by hand or using a large circle punch to cut the characters out in a circle shape. Trust me, using a Cricut for parties is a game-changer!

For the cups, you'll need orange paper cups, Cricut sticker paper, and the Bluey & Bingo stickers template. Download the template here.

After printing and cutting the stickers, simply peel and stick them to the cups.

Bluey Birthday Party Food

Since my guest list was small, I kept the food simple. Popcorn chicken and grapes were the birthday girl's requests. To add some color, I included orange Sixlets and blue lollipops. Additionally, I made Bluey and Bingo popcorn for a special touch.

Oh, and you might notice the Scooby Snacks in the middle of the table. They were bone-shaped and I thought they would be adorable. However, they do say "Scooby Snacks" on them, which I didn't consider at first. Nevertheless, the kids loved them, and they were delicious!

Bluey and Bingo Cupcake Toppers

The birthday girl insisted on having cupcakes. I ordered chocolate cupcakes with blue frosting from the grocery store and added orange sprinkles and little white bone sprinkles for extra flair. To make it even more Bluey-themed, I created Bluey and Bingo cupcake toppers.

Feel free to download the cupcake toppers template here.

After making the toppers, I used hot glue to attach them to toothpicks.

Bluey Birthday Party Games

One of the things we adore about Bluey is the family's ability to turn anything and everything into a fun game. So, themed party games were a must. We even recreated some of my daughter's favorite games from the show. During the party, we played:

  • Sticky gecko (from "Sticky Gecko")
  • Bum shuffle races (from "Baby Race")
  • Dancy party (from "Dance Mode")
  • Keepy Uppy (from "Keepy Uppy")
  • Bluey & Bingo's BINGO (because it's incredibly cute!)
  • Bluey iSpy
  • Coloring sheets

As an added bonus, I included character names on the iSpy game so parents can impress their kids with their Bluey knowledge.

Bluey Birthday Party Favors

To keep with my daughter's love for dressing up, I made "for real-life" Bluey ears for each party guest. Similar to the Minnie Mouse ears I made before, these ears were a huge hit. And the best part? No sewing required, just hot glue!

Since my daughter also adores stickers and tattoos, I created a sticker sheet and temporary tattoos for each partygoer. These favors were also made with my trusty Cricut and are surprisingly easy to create.

Bluey Birthday Party Shirts

Of course, no themed party is complete without matching outfits! Our five-year-old daughter absolutely loves dressing up, so we had to get the whole family into the Bluey spirit.

For the rest of the family, I designed our shirts and made them available in my Etsy Shop. We had "Mum" featuring Chili Heeler, "Dad" featuring Bandit Heeler, "Bingo & Bluey," and "#Squadgoals" featuring Bluey's besties.

Please note that my husband's shirt is not visible in the photo, but it says "Dad" with a picture of Bandit dancing.
