A mini Grinch tree is a delightful addition to your holiday decor. Not only is it easy to make, but it also brings a touch of whimsy and quirkiness to your home. In this article, I will guide you on how to create your own tabletop Grinch tree and spread some Christmas joy.

The Magic of the Mini Grinch Tree

Dr. Seuss's beloved tale, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," perfectly captures the essence of the holiday season. It inspired me to create Grinch trees that saved Christmas for me in the past. This year, I decided to make smaller, portable versions of these trees that I can share with others.

For this project, I used a lemon cypress tree, but you can use any mini evergreen tree. Lemon cypress trees are readily available during the holidays and have a vibrant yellow-green color and a pleasant scent. Just remember to water them regularly and provide enough humidity.

How to Make a Tabletop Grinch Tree

There are various ways to create a mini Grinch tree, but I prefer using living plants. It's simpler and allows you to enjoy the tree beyond the holiday season.

Materials

  • Potting soil
  • Brightly colored plant pot
  • Small evergreen tree
  • Moss
  • Medium to large colorful ornament for the top
  • Ribbon, battery-powered string lights, floral wire, and other garland materials

Make It!

  1. Plant the evergreen tree in a colorful pot with good potting soil. Position the tree at an angle, leaning slightly to one side.

  2. Add decorative moss on top of the soil to give it a festive touch.

  3. If desired, wrap battery-powered string lights around the tree, starting from the bottom and working your way up. You can also add ribbon or floral wire as a garland, winding it around the tree alongside the lights.

  4. Choose your ornaments. You can keep it simple with just a wire garland and a large topper ornament, or get creative with glittery mini pom-poms. To make pom-pom ornaments, thread them onto jewelry pins and hang them all over the tree.

  5. Attach the large ornament to the top of the tree, bending it down toward the center of the pot.

  6. Complete the look by tying a festive bow around the pot.

And voila! Your mini Grinch tree is ready to spread holiday cheer.
