Your wedding day is a special occasion where you should be able to fully enjoy the celebration of your love. To make the most of this day, delegation is key. By entrusting certain tasks to others, you can relax and focus on creating beautiful memories. Here are eight important things to delegate on your wedding day.

Day of Payments

If possible, make all vendor payments before the wedding day. However, if this is not feasible, prepare labeled envelopes with checks and hand them over to someone trustworthy for delivery. Your wedding planner, maid of honor, or best man are ideal choices for this responsibility.

Decorating

Don't burden yourself with the task of decorating your ceremony and reception venues. Delegate this responsibility to ensure that everything is beautifully set up while you relax on your wedding morning. If you're going for a do-it-yourself style, set up your table decorations at home and take pictures of the arrangements. Include these photos with your decorations, providing clear guidance for your designated decorator. Opt for close friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, or siblings who are not part of the bridal party to handle this task.

Day of Contact for Vendors

Designate your wedding planner or appointed day-of coordinator as the point of contact for your vendors on your wedding day. If you don't have a wedding planner, make sure you have a day-of coordinator, as they will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth event. Provide your vendors with the contact details of this person prior to the big day.

Handling Calls and Text Messages

Leave the task of answering calls and texts to someone else on your wedding day. Instead of constantly checking your phone, hand it over to your maid of honor and best man. They can take care of responding to messages, providing directions to guests, and relaying any important information to you.

Timekeeping

While wedding planners are skilled in keeping track of time, it's beneficial to have someone close to you personally ensure that you stay on schedule throughout the day. This is an ideal responsibility for your Maid of Honor or Best Man. Provide them with a copy of the timeline, allowing them to remind you when it's time to put down that mimosa and get ready.

Ensuring You Eat

It may be challenging to find time to eat on your wedding day, but it's crucial that you have someone ensure you're nourished. Moms are often great at taking care of this task. Plan for someone to bring your favorite fast food, prepare your favorite childhood snack, or have a sub delivered to your getting ready suite. No matter the method, make sure you eat before the ceremony!

Family Wrangling

When it's time for family portraits, designate someone who can gather all family members efficiently. This will ensure that you capture photographs with everyone on your list and that the process runs smoothly. Prepare a list of family members and hand it over to someone who knows your relatives well and can gather them at the designated photo location. Siblings often excel in this role, and you may even need two people to gather family members from both sides.

Handling Wedding Gifts

You will receive gifts and cards at your reception, but these won't magically make their way to your house. Assign someone the responsibility of loading the gifts into a car and bringing them to your home. If you're heading to a hotel room for the night, you don't want to be burdened with transporting the gifts back and forth. If you're going straight home, have someone load the gifts into your car before you depart.

By delegating these tasks on your wedding day, you can ensure a more relaxed and joyful experience. You'll be able to fully embrace the moment and be present in every precious detail. Remember, delegation is not limited to just brides; grooms should also take advantage of the support available to them.
